This week throughout school we will be addressing issues around bullying as part of our Anti Bullying Week. In Bramcote Class today, we have been learning the difference between the words rude, mean and bullying. We have discussed what we should do if we feel we are being bullied in any way. We have also started to learn a poem which says NO to bullying. We discussed what makes a good friend and painted some pictures of different acts of kindness.

Try and talk to your child about this theme, discussing the issues we have covered in class.

This week we have been learning about the sense of taste. To help us test our taste buds today we had a fruit picnic! The children had so much fun and really enjoyed trying the different variety of fruits. I am very proud of how everyone gave each piece of fruit a try. Judging by the empty plates I think grapes and pineapple were the clear favourites!

Wow, what an amazing phonics session we had today. The children are all trying so hard to learn our phonemes and letter names, and they are also trying hard to read our key words, using the sound buttons to help. Nyomi really impressed me today when she used her choosing time at the writing table to write words by herself, putting in the sound buttons, and then coming to read the words to me! Mrs Turner-Rowe and Mr Aske [a special visitor to Kimberley Primary today] were also impressed!

This week we are thinking about our sense of taste. We read the story, The Healthy Wolf, about a wolf called Wilfred, who only liked to eat very unhealthy foods. We sorted some pictures of different foods into two groups, food which is good for us and food which is not so good for us. We then looked through magazines and cut out pictures of healthy foods for our lunch boxes. Later on, we did some observational drawings of some real fruit and vegetables, using pastel crayons.
