News and activities

Welcome back to the Spring term 2019!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and are ready for the busy term ahead.

This half term we are learning all about Explorers! We will be learning about Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong and their adventures and what made them significant people in our history.

Please have a look at the curriculum flier which gives you more information about the half term ahead.

Class visitor

Last week we had a vist from the school snake. Mrs Turner Rowe gave us lots of information about snakes and we had the oppertunity to learn about how snakes move, what they eat and how they grow. This information will feed into our new T4W unit on 'Meerkat Mail' where the children will be reading and writing non-chronological reports all about animals.

Cricket Coach

For the next 5 weeks the children in Unicorn class will get the opportunity to take part in some Cricket Coaching. This is an exciting opportunity for the children to learn new skills from a trained cricket coach. This will take place on a Monday morning up until half term. This will replace our Thursday PE slot for the time being. Can you please make sure all children have their PE kit in school at the beginning of the week. Outdoor kit may be needed if we can’t access the hall so make sure the children have some joggers in their PE bag too! Thank you.

Autumn term 2018

This half term our topic is ‘The Great Fire of London’. To start the topic off and to get the children really excited, we have arranged a drama day on Monday 10th September. A specialised drama company are coning into school to make the event really memorable. The children received a letter at the end of last term requesting a £5 contribution towards the event. Please come and see one of us if you did not receive the letter or if you require a new one.

PE days – Tuesday and Thursday

The Gruffalo

This week started with a mysterious visitor! The Gruffalo came to visit us in Unicorns and left us a message. The children have loved the introduction to our new Talk for Writing topic and have loved writing back to the Gruffalo and making his treats.

Look out for more Gruffalo work next week.
