WELCOME TO WOLLATON CLASS
Mrs K. Wilde
As I turn 40 this year, I can’t quite believe I have been teaching for almost twenty years! Yet, every day is still full of the excitement and passion that I felt when I first graduated those many years ago!
Joining Kimberley in January 2017, I have thoroughly enjoyed every second and I am excited about what the future holds for this school. The children have welcomed me with open arms and I have been extremely impressed with their positive attitude to learning.
English is a particular passion of mine and I am always seeking ways to help inspire and motivate pupils with their learning in this subject. I want learning to be fun for our children and constantly strive to provide lessons that are engaging and challenging for our pupils.
I look forward to meeting parents and carers of Kimberley and working together for the future of our children.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed their topic for the spring term - 'World at war' and I have been particularly impressed with the quality of their cross-curricular writing in History which saw them writing texts such as Adolf Hitler's biography. Science week was also very popular with class Wollaton and they enjoyed making bug hotels out of materials they found in the local environment. As always, the children really impressed with me with their skills in art this term and they made some fabulous Clarice Cliff pottery pieces which they are very proud of and have taken home. The y6 children have been working so hard and putting an incredible amount of effort in to their preparation for SATS next half term - we all can't quite believe there is only approximately four weeks to go once the Easter holidays are finished! Enjoy the Easter holidays, rest and have fun - just make sure you don't eat too many Easter eggs! I am looking forward to seeing what the children produce for their holiday Learning Logs....
Thank you for all your support during the Autumn Term. The children have worked hard and have enjoyed learning about Ancient Egypt. Miss.Lang has now completed her seven week teacher placement with us and will be back in the new year for some extra days to further support her in the journey of her becoming a teacher. Our topic for the Spring term will be based around World War two as part of our British History study. Learning log homework will be sent out on the last day of the Autumn term and there is also a copy below and on the letter page of this website. Have a fantastic Christmas holiday and New Year and we will see you in 2018! Mrs.Wilde
Our trainee teacher...
My name is Miss Lang and will be working in Wollaton with Mrs Wilde until December. I am currently in my fourth and final year of studying a Primary Education Degree at Nottingham Trent University. As a student teacher, I will be working closely with Mrs Wilde to plan and teach lessons, whilst also assisting with the class. Some of my favourite subjects are English and History so I am really looking forward to doing these with Wollaton class.
Please come and speak to me if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting you.
Ancient Egyptians Day
The children in Newstead and Wollaton enjoyed an Ancient Egyptian day on Monday 11th September. ‘Portals to the Past’ came into school to teach us all about Ancient Egyptian weapons, mummification and lots more! What a great start to our Egyptians topic.
