In the Spring term, our curriculum studies will focus around the concept of 'Invade and Defend'. We will be taking an historical look at what was happening in the UK and the rest of the world from prehistorical times and up to the Battle of Hastings in 1066, with a focus on artefacts, conflict and settlements knowledge categories.
The children have studied these time periods in year 3 and we will be using our knowledge to advance our skills as Historians.
In Biology we will focus on living things, including plants life cycles and keeping teeth healthy. In Chemistry are studies will investigate soils, their properties and how they are made. Finally, our Physics studies will see the class make and repair electrical circuits and test materials to see which ones are magnetic.
The documents below are our curriculum overviews for each half of the term. These should give you an idea about what the children will be learning in the coming weeks.
If your child is required to self-isolate and is able to continue to complete their work here are the details you may need to know.
All children will have their laptops, school books, relevant paper based activities and a paper timetable which will outline the times of each lesson and when their slides will be sent via teams.
They will be given their power maths books and the slides for the week will be sent via our ‘Class Earth’ Team. Children are welcome to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if they have any questions regarding the work.
The children will be sent home with their English books and the slides for the week will be sent out via teams. The slides will be clear and the children will be able to independently work on these.
Curriculum slides will be sent via teams on the designated times and the task will be clear for them to carry out in their books.
Times tables is a huge focus for year 4 and so it is encouraged that the children practice Times table tock stars at least 3 times a week.
As a class, we complete 1 arithmetic and fast maths paper a week. This will be sent home for your child to also complete (please email the scores)
I will also be sending CGP handwriting and SPaG booklets for the children to work through as their morning activities.
Don’t hesitate to email me at email@example.com with any questions you may have.

Welcome to Year 4!
We are looking forward to a great Autumn Term, we will have P.E on a Tuesday afternoon with Miss Bingham and a Friday Morning with Miss Dixon. All children are required to come to school in their P.E kits on their designated P.E days.
Our aim for Year 4 is to deepen the knowledge we have learnt in our curriculum subjects during Year 3 and so there will be many topics you are familiar with. We will begin the term looking at different mountain ranges, rivers and volcanos in different countries around the world.
