Welcome to Sloth Class!
The children of Year 1 will be taught by Mr. Beresford with teaching assistant support provided by Miss Bexon & Miss Phimister.
Mr. Beresford is also the school's SENCo - commitments relating to this role mean that he will be out of class on Wednesdays. Mrs Ward will cover the class on these days.
Why Sloth Class?
People are often surprised to hear that our Year 1 class is called Sloth Class! While sloths are known for moving slowly, they are also thoughtful, determined and resilient animals.
In Sloth Class, we believe that every child learns at their own pace. We encourage children to take their time, think carefully, persevere when learning is challenging and always strive to do their best. Like sloths climbing high into the rainforest canopy, our children are constantly growing, learning and reaching new heights.
We celebrate progress, curiosity and resilience, helping every child to enjoy their learning journey and develop confidence in themselves as learners.
Here are a few books that Mr. Beresford particularly enjoys reading to the children of Sloth Class.
