In addition to the lessons taught by our teaching staff and our Resident Sports Coach, the children of KPS are provided with the following sporting opportunities:

  • Wheelchair Sports, delivered to children from Year 1 to 6 by an external qualified sports coach across a 6 week unit culminating in a Trust wide competition for children who would not usually participate in sporting events. This provider also offers and after school club, details of which will be posted on the schools Dojo.

  • Urban Hockey, delivered by a specialist coach to each phase (KS1, LKS2 and UKS2) across a 6-week unit. This provider also offers and after school club, details of which will be posted on the schools Dojo.

  • Chance 2 Shine Cricket, delivered by coaches from Trent Bridge throughout the summer term to children in each Key Stage (TBC).

Swimming at KPS
For the 2024/2025 academic year, the schools swimming provision will be provided by Derbyshire County Schools Swimming Service at Ilkeston leisure centre.

Our current Year 3 cohort will attend swimming lessons weekly, from the beginning of the Autumn through to the conclusion of the Spring term. In summer, the school will assess current attainment levels and utalise the remaining provision for top up learning.

The above document provides details on how we spent our PE and Sport Premium Grant in the previous academic year and how we intend to spend the Grant in the current academic year.
