PE and Sport Premium

How is PE taught at KPS?

At KPS we intend to deliver a PE curriculum that is skills based and that provides children with a diverse range of sporting possibilities through which they can develop their physical confidence. It is our aim to ensure that children are presented with opportunities to access new and exciting sports throughout their time at KPS and increase awareness of the activities available in the local community. Sporting participation and achievements will be celebrated whilst we encourage core values of fairness, teamwork and respect.

Please see the attached PE Skills Progression Plan attached below for further details.

Additional PE opportunities at KPS during 2026/2027
In addition to the lessons taught by our teaching staff, the children of KPS are provided with the following sporting opportunities:

  • EYFS & KS1 Dance, delivered by a qualified dance coach across a 6-week unit.
  • Wheelchair Sports, delivered to children from Year 1 to 6 by an external qualified sports coach across a 6 week unit culminating in a Trust wide competition for children who would not usually participate in sporting events. This provider also offers and after school club, details of which will be posted on the schools Dojo.
  • Premier Education will also provide not only curriculum lessons to KS1 and LKS2 during the Autumn term but also run lunch and after school clubs open to the whole schoo.

Swimming at KPS
For the 2026/2027 academic year, the schools swimming provision will be provided by Nottingham City Schools Swimming Service at Harvey Haddon Sports Village.
