Communication and Interaction Needs Provision :

We cater for a wide range of communication and interaction needs, the most prominent being children who are on the autistic spectrum.  We have many children with sensory processing difficulties.  Our teaching, staffing and the configuration of the building have been carefully adapted to include children with communication difficulties, including the addition of a sensory room for children needing sensory stimulation and regulation.  Our teaching assistant team are all trained in sensory provision.

We have access to our a speech and language therapist, who is regularly in school.  We refer children to this service if they have speech or communication difficulties that require extra provision.

    • Sensory profiling and access to our sensory room and resources

    • Referral to the speech and language therapist (SALT)
    • EYFS Nelly Speech and Language program
    • 1:1 or group SALT intervention
    • Socially Speaking groups
    • Visual resources to aid communication, e.g. visual timetables, now and next boards, feelings fans.
