Applying and Admissions

Our school has a 52 place Nursery. That means that there are 26 places available for children to attend in the morning and a further 26 places available for children to attend in the afternoon. We offer parents the opportunity to take their 15 hours in a variety of ways - including mornings, afternoons or full days.  Parents can also pay for lunchtime and additional sessions. In addition, we offer 30 hour places to eligble parents. Please contact the school for more information.

We offer a limited number of free 30 hour, term-time places in our nursery for eligible families.  Please contact the school if you would like to take advantage of this offer.

Our Pupil Admission Number is 30 per year group.  We are a single form entry primary school and have no mixed age classes.

Applying to our Nursery

This process is dealt with by school directly through our school office. You can apply to nursery at any time up to when the child is due to start school. Nursery forms are available from the school entrance hall. Alternatively you can download one below:

Once you have filled the application form in, our member of staff with the responsibility for admissions will calculate the date that your child is due to start. We will then inform you whether your child has a place one school term before the due start date. Prior to your child beginning in nursery we will endeavour for them to have a 'getting to know' session. In most cases we will also carry out a home visit.

Applying to Full Time School (Reception year)

This process is called first admissions and is dealt with directly by the local authority. You will receive a letter directly to your home address in the November of the school year prior to the next academic year when your child will become five.  Find out more about when and how to apply.

Once you have accepted the place then school will contact you with some transition arrangements.

Kimberley Primary School has 30 places in our reception class each year.

Moving schools during term time

You may be wish to move your child to our school within a school year. This is possible, subject to available places. You must apply directly to the school using the admission form below. You will be informed with 10 working days of the outcome of your application. 

If you are offered a space for your child then a start date is set and a transition process begins.

Appeals

Parents have the right to an independent appeals panel if they are not happy with the outcome of their application.

• Any appeal must be made to the Clerk of the Admissions Appeal Panel (Kimberley Primary School) within 20 school days from the date of the refusal letter.
• Parents will receive notice of the date of appeal at least 10 days in advance of the hearing.
• Appeals lodged within the time-frame will be heard within 40 school days.
• Appeals for late applications will be heard within 20 days.
• Repeat applications in the same academic year will not be considered unless there is a significant and material change in circumstances.
